In preparation for the Indiana primary on May 3, 2022, voters can learn more about the candidates on their ballot thanks to efforts by the local chapter of the League of Women Voters. The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan, grassroots organization working to protect and expand voting rights and ensure everyone is represented in our democracy. The League of Women Voters of Greater Lafayette (League Lafayette), the local chapter, supports national efforts while also providing nonpartisan information on candidates in local races through several resources.
Through the League Lafayette website, the League Lafayette Voter Services team is actively building out the Elections and Voter Information section with candidate biographies, campaign websites and candidate interviews. The candidate information and interviews are added as they are completed and are accessible directly from leaguelafayette.org.
Another source for candidate information is through VOTE411, a nationwide tool created and maintained by the national League of Women Voters. VOTE411.org has served tens of millions of voters by providing thoroughly researched bilingual election information in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The local chapter of the League of Women Voters (leaguelafayette.org) is preparing the VOTE411 voter guide for voters to learn which candidates will be on their ballot, who they are, and their platforms. Races covered include the U.S. Senate, U.S. Congressional Districts, County Offices and Township races.
Finally, for the first time, VOTE411 for Tippecanoe County is being offered on the Spanish Platform. If the candidates do not include a Spanish response, the league has four translators working to translate English responses into Spanish. These translations are then placed on the VOTE411 Spanish Platform.
League members will continue updating both the local website and VOTE411 with candidate information as it is received. This work will continue in preparation for both the May 3 primary as well as the November 8 midterm election. Voters are encouraged to check both websites frequently for updated information.
