At the Monday, December 6, 2021 meeting of the West Lafayette City
Council (Margerum City Hall, 6:30 PM), we have two ordinances that may
be of interest to readers. The first is a ban on conversion therapy for
minors.
The second concerns an attempt to override a mayoral veto of an
ordinance banning government use of facial recognition technology. The
ordinance passed the Council twice. Informative links are below the
signature. I encourage everyone to write to the Councilors and advocate
for the override; the consequence would be preventing both the
infringement upon privacy rights and the empowerment of private
corporations that lack accountability. I also encourage you to express
yourselves at the Monday meeting.
